Personal Narrative
This piece has a lot of meaning to me as it is the story of who I am, starting from where I came from to how that shaped me as a person. My goal was to share the message that everyone has demons, and how everyone can grow to overcome them and continue to live a meaningful and enriched life.
Chair Painting
This acrylic painting was a practice painting on how to use techniques and create depth by overlapping objects. I choose to paint a hanging chair because I could show items through the bars to create more depth. I also used the contrasting colors red and green because it is my favorite color combo.
Pen & Ink Story
The story I choose to illustrate for this project was the myth of Artemis and Apollo from Greek mythology. Both the god of the sun (Apollo) and the god of the moon (Artemis) were known to be great archers, demonstrated in the piece by the bow and arrow in the constellations and the clouds.
Concept of Time
Although scratchboards are not my favorite medium, I enjoyed pushing my limits as an artist both creatively and technically with this piece. I choose to illustrate a moment in time that most people in America have shared. As a kid I remember watching raindrops roll down the window paine and imagine them racing to the bottom. When I asked my friends and family if they remember doing that too, I came to the realization that it was a somewhat common experience.
